In 2008, in the small Basque town of Mauleon, Soule - the global epicenter of espadrille fabrication, two Frenchmen, namely Mathieu Labat and Julien Maisonnave, launched their espadrille Brand, Art of Soule.
The duo’s aim was to establish a disruptive and innovative espadrille Brand.
Embracing the Basque artisanal craftsmanship, Art of Soule designed and produced products that evoked fun, youthfulness, and vibrance, through smart design, eclectic prints, vibrant colors, and quirky marketing campaigns.
Today, Art of Soule has established itself as an authentic, qualitative, and vibrant espadrille brand. Its innovative summer and winter collections are sold via its retail store located in Biarritz, its e-commerce platforms, and select partnerships. And, as the global footwear market is void of one dominant espadrille brand, a brand that speaks to the youthfully minded and conscious Gen Z consumer, Art of Soule is set to own that space.
